cloth diapering

Sometimes people look at my like I have 6 heads when I tell them we cloth diaper. But the truth is, we have been cloth diapering for awhile now. I have always been super interested in doing it, but was a chicken. Looking back on it now, I have no idea why! It not like it's "harmful", or going to permantly damaged your sweet little baby forever. What's the worse that could happen he poops everywhere and it gets all over the side of your shirt when your already running late?! Well been there done that got a t-shirt for it (literally) and guess what...it was in a regular ole' disposable diaper!! So I figured what was it going to hurt.

After some extensive research, I chose to start my cloth diapering endeavor with the BumGenius Flip.

What I liked about this particular diaper was, you insert your clean prefold or insert into the same diaper inbetween changes...but CAN reuse the actaul diaper"shell". Now that probably makes no sense at all if you have never really looked into cloth diapering. The Flip system comes with a shell, this is the outermost part of the diaper, the cute colored or designed part. The insert goes inside the diaper shell, and the shell helps hold it in place.

Here's the kicker, that made the Flip system the one for me my first go around. They grow with your baby.Yep, thats right! Your little muchkin could be wearing the same diaper the day he starts wearing his Toy Story undies, as the day he was born! Talk about saving some moolah! There are different brands and types of all in ones, but like I said the Flip system seemed to be the most logical for us at the current time, and where we were at with our diapering.

There are many different types of inserts you can buy to go into you diaper shell. I chose to make mine at first. They worked, but in all honesty it is proably more cost efficent to just purcahse them from somewhere like cotton babies, or Diaper Junction There are a TON of websites out there loaded down with information on cloth diapering! The possibilites and choices are overwhelming at first. So if it's something you are considering...do your research, look into all your options. After all, it is your babys booty your dealing with:)

I personally, hope to explore more options with cloth diapering. I am really liking the flip, but am still open to the bazillion other options there are out there! I know I barely even touched on the whole subject, but I wana know do any of y'all cloth diapering?  What's your favorite? Any advice?

Welcome!

Hey y'all and welcome to Pleasantly Polished. I am so excited to be blogging, and starting a new business:)

I am a Georgia girl named Tori, a full-time momma of two little boys, and a wife to a firefighter cowboy (who I swear has super hero capiabitites) and goes by Matthew.

My family is my life, and I love soaking up all the time I can with them. I like to think I am pretty creative though, and sometimes need an outlet. That's where Pleasantly Polished comes into play. Here on this ole' bloggy blog, I plan on sharing tips on family and life in general, and of course news about my *NEW* business!

I hope y'all will stick around, and join us on this new and exciting journey:)
